雖然開發者們一直以來都可以通過 Sony Add-on SDK 去為 SmartWatch 開發程式，不過這次的 Open SmartWatch 計劃則走得更深入。參加了這個計劃的開發者可以為 SmartWatch 製造和刷上第三方的韌體。由於目前並沒有第三方韌體可以刷，所以 Sony 特地聯同 Arduino 於今個星期六，在瑞典的 Malmö 舉行 SmartWatch Arduino Hackathon 活動，Arduino 將會為 SmartWatch 開發他們的自家 ROM，只是尚未有推出的時間表。不過在刷 SmartWatch 之前，緊記裝置可能會失去保固，請自行承擔風險吧。
