歐洲央行(ECB)4日破天荒和美國聯準會劃清界線，表示將維持歷史低利、並不排除續砍利率。德國央行總裁魏德曼(Jens Weidmann)表示，歐洲央行無法解決歐元區的債務危機，各國必須整頓經濟並強化財政管制、發展才能重上軌道。

MNI和路透社報導，魏德曼7日指出，歐洲央行管理委員會(Governing Council)的共識是，歐債危機暴露結構性缺失，因此需要結構性改革；貨幣政策在吸收危機風險方面貢獻良多，但是貨幣措施無法根除危機。

他認為必須進行結構性改革、廢止對銀行和主權債擔保，才能讓歐元發揮充分潛能。他同時呼籲歐洲銀行不應持有過多的本國政府公債，應修訂資本法規，將銀行持有公債的風險、曝險程度納入考量。
