不用陽光　LED燈就可以養活蔬菜

大家都知道蔬菜需要陽光來行光合作用吸收養分，沒有陽光的環境也可透過LED或是螢光燈等方式種植，但無法大規模去培養。但現在透過新LED照明技術，不僅可以養活它們，更可以促進它們生長。根據《朝日新聞》報導，日本宮城縣多賀城市一家使用新型LED照明的蔬菜工廠近公開新技術，透過他們的LED照過後的蔬菜，產量可以增加5成，日出貨量則可達一萬棵。
 
該技術由美國奇異公司所研發，該LED照明技術可以在大範圍內擴散光線，並且包含數種可促進光合作用與植物生長的波長，並可根據「插秧期」、「生長期」等不同生長階段分類使用，消耗的電力也比傳統螢光燈照明低上4成。
 
台灣大學於2012年也開始販售其植物工廠生產的水耕蔬菜，是全台第一個以LED燈等人工光種植的蔬菜，雖具無農藥、無重金屬、低硝酸鹽等優點，但無法大量生產，單價也偏高。（王建鑫／綜合報導）
